Waterfalls in Maui

by Gina Crosby on October 28, 2009

When I travel to the Hawaiian Islands I always try to experience one new thing.  On my last visit to Maui in Sept we went on a waterfall hike. We debated about going on our own or going with a guide.  We chose to go with a guide.  That was the best decision.  We might have found a couple of the waterfalls but we would not have found all 5 waterfalls.  As we hiked through the lush green plants, she would point out different plants, pick fruit to eat and even found a rootbeer plant to smell.  As we approached the different waterfalls, our guide took us to the safe jumping places to plunge into the water.  I chose the lower rocks and others jumped 30-40 feet!  One waterfall was like getting a deep masage on your back, another had a rope swing which our guide again told us exactly where to jump into the deep safe water.  It was so pretty hiking in the lush green  foliage, seeing the banana and guava plants and learning something along the way.  I would recommend this hike.  I used a company called Hike Maui.  Maui has a lot to offer already with their beautiful beaches so this just added to the beauty of the island.
