IC Train card in Japan

I recently traveled back from Japan and wanted to share this info about this unique Japanese technology.
This time I only traveled around the Tokyo metropolitan area, so I didn't purchase a Japan Rail Pass which is a very popular
train pass for the travelers from overseas. (approx. $300.00 for a 7 day regular pass)
I purchased a SUICA card instead. It is a rechargeable IC card valid on most trains.
The Japan Rail pass is good ONLY on Japan Rail line, but this SUICA card is good for JR line as well as subways and buses. If anyone wants to know more about this please let me know. Or visit this site for more info ;

I brought the SUICA card back with me. I'll definitely recharge and use it again when I travel to Japan in the future because
it's valid as long as I use it within 10 years after the last use.

There is another IC rechargeable card, called PASMO. While Suica is usable in several cities in Japan for transportation and shopping, PASMO is limited to the use only in Greater Tokyo area.
